Welcome to the Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Funding Website

The governments of Canada and Ontario are working in joint partnership with municipalities to build a strong economy, safe and vibrant communities, and a healthy, sustainable environment.

The Building Canada Fund is divided into two unique infrastructure investment vehicles in Ontario: the Major Infrastructure Component and the Communities Component. Each area is equally funded by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario. Under the Major Infrastructure Component, Canada and Ontario each contribute more than $2.73 billion toward larger-scale infrastructure projects. Under the Communities Component, the federal and provincial governments are investing over $1-Billion in smaller-scale projects in communities with fewer than 100,000 residents.

With the creation of the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, the federal and provincial governments are accelerating infrastructure investments to foster a competitive advantage that attracts businesses and creates jobs for today and the future.

These jointly-funded projects ensure that Ontarians will benefit from increased employment opportunities, enhanced protection and management of drinking water sources, improved transportation safety and efficiency, as well as new and renewed cultural institutions and sport facilities.
