Infrastructure Stimulus Fund At Work In Ontario
April 07, 2010
The Government of Canada established the $4-billion Infrastructure Stimulus Fund through its Economic Action Plan, providing funding to construction-ready infrastructure projects. Ontario's portion of the funding is part of the $32-billion infrastructure stimulus funding announced in the Province's 2009 budget. This joint funding is supporting projects that can be completed by March 31, 2011. The Infrastructure Stimulus Fund is structured to flow funding and get shovels in the ground quickly.
Under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, the governments of Canada and Ontario are providing $138.7 million in joint funding for 43 infrastructure improvements to highways, bridges and local roads across Ontario.
The governments of Canada and Ontario will each contribute nearly $69.4 million towards the total eligible costs of these provincial initiatives.
